The key objective of this lesson was to understand and define signs visually and by audio while analyzing a media product. Semiotics is the study of symbols/signs in our culture. Signs are the smallest components of meaning. Roland Barthes was a French literary theorist. Barthes believed that there are multiple ways to read a code and that a text has multiple meanings. He analyzed the importance process and studied the relationship between connotation and denotation. connotation convey the significance based on the context.
