FADE IN 

Narration V.O: For years, the students of Paramount High have heard of a strange being that executes those who do wrong. Through the years, however, as time has gone on this myth has faded, causing evil to rink the halls of Paramount. There have been rumors that this being still lurks in the halls, but some will only believe it if they see it for themselves. 

 

EXT. THE UPSTAIRS OF PARAMOUNT HIGHS 500 BUILDINGEVENING/OUTSIDE 

School just ended and the girls are going to their after-school club where they see MONIQUE whom they have a problem with. 

Girls come upstairs- 

Olivia: Hey! Weren't you the one who told the whole school that anna was cheating on her bf? 

Anna (with an attitude): That was you, wasn’t it?! 

Anna has an angry tone while she says this. 

Monique (with an attitude): Girl what? I don’t know anything about that. 

Shaniya(angry): Stop Lying! (yells). 

Monique: I'm not lying! (Yells back) 

FADE OUT 

 

FADE IN 

EXT. OUTSIDE OF THE MAIN AUDTOURIUM 

GIRLS ARE SITTING ON THE STAIRS OF AUDTOURIM TALKING AMONGST THEMSLEVES. 

Monique is walking towards them on her phone. 

Shaniya: There go Monique. Didn’t she say to coach that she did 6 200’s when she only did 5. 

Monique walks by and hears. 

Monique(turns towards them): What did you say? 

Olivia: You know you only did 5 reps so why did you feel the need to lie to the coach? 

Monique: Its whatever, you got it. 

Monique walks past them. 

FADE OUT 

 

*The third scene was improvised to enhance the effect of horror.\

  CAMERA FRAMING- Camera shot framing pertains to how you position objects and subjects in shots. The position of the visual elements in a frame such as the objects or subjects in relation to other objects in a scene. Digital Camerawork: Shot sizes- Research

  SHOT SIZES-  Shot size is how much of the object or subject is shown in a frame. While camera shot is a shot of multiple of frames that go uninterrupted for a period of time. This is all determined by how the camera is operate positioned, and how it moved for certain effects. Close up and Wide shot are both examples of camera shot size. the concept of this assignment was to apply the camera work techniques and create the camera shots for the main concepts of camerawork, shot size , camera angles, camera  framing, and camera composition . Students  worked in groups of 2-4 to complete this assignment. each group had a week to take pictures either related to their movie genre  they choose or to take pictures of  miscellaneous things to complete the assignment.    

Preliminary Exercise 1: Barthes’ Theory of Denotative and Connotative Signs Semiotic Analysis Table

     The key objective of this lesson was to understand and define signs visually and by audio while analyzing a media product. Semiotics is the study of symbols/signs in our culture. Signs are the smallest components of meaning. Roland Barthes was a French literary theorist. Barthes believed that there are multiple ways to read a code and that a text has multiple meanings. He analyzed the importance process and studied the relationship between connotation and denotation. connotation convey the significance based on the context. While denotation is the original/actual meaning of a sign.      Students completed a Semiotic Analysis Table based on Roland Barthes' Theory of Denotative and Connotative Signs. Students were supposed to be able to recognize and define signs (visually and audibly) when analyzing media products for the following: Characters, costumes, acting, setting, color, lighting, sound, etc. 2 students completed this Semiotic Analysis table....
