To complete your film after shooting you would then have to edit all your clips and scenes. The Standard cut is a hard transition that connects one clip to the start of the next clip. I would use this transition to connect my credits with my logo for my production company. Wipe is a transition that slides the current clip over and then the start of the next when shown. I would this clip if I'm filming a comedy film. A split screen is where multiple clips or scenes are shown at one time on the screen. I would use this technique in a drama to show all perspectives of a conversation on the phone. Crosscutting is a technique where 2 scenes are happening at the same time in the same place but the characters aren't aware. I would use this technique in a romance before the 2 lovers meet.
You also have the option to edit sound in your film product as well. Batch fades is where the audio is edited to fade in or fade out. I would use this either at the beginning or the end of my film. Compression is where the dynamics of the audio volume change. I would this if there is multiple audios playing at one time.
